PhotoKalam is a document of truth captured and presented in forms of digital photographs, videos and printed photobooks with words that create an immersive experience.
Photokalam (Kalam, a Hindi word, means pen. Metaphorically, it symbolizes 'words') is an effort to document and preserve the present- a slice of one’s routine life, personal and public affairs, celebrations and ceremonies, business events and corporate dos and a lot more.
I would document your today with visuals and complement them with words to make the day a perfect window to peep into your past.
I weave in photojournalistic style of photography, unconventional poses with traditional style of photography to capture the significant event holistically.
Why PhotoKalam ?
A picture is worth hundred words. It mirrors the truth of that instant. But the journey or story that has brought upon the moment often remains in shadow: unheard and unacknowledged. The very concept of PhotoKalam is to depict the truth of the moment alongside the trail, in words, that has culminated into that specific split second. PhotoKalam, therefore, is a conscious endeavour to document the happening with perspective.
Photokalam excels in covering events in the objective photojournalistic style.
Though my first tryst with camera was much before I found myself pursuing Masters in Development Communication, it was during this program that I realized the potential of this medium. And I chose camera and pen both to use them as effective tools of communication. The quest to find human interest stories made me join DNA, an English daily in Ahmedabad, as a News Correspondent-cum- Photographer. The stint as a photojournalist was fulfilling but I wanted to explore all genres of photography. Thus, I took the plunge and the idea of PhotoKalam surfaced.
I work with creative heads in my network. Along with photographs and content, you can also approach me for graphic designs, caricatures, corporate and documentary films.
